The New EvanBot Design

Posted under Off Topic on May 27, 2009.

And so do websites. The new design comes with a whole set of exciting improvements and modifications just in time for the summer.

But Why?

I had a number of reasons to update the look of my website, which I'll explain.

#1 Old Design Was Limiting

With my old design I was only able to construct articles in a linear fashion - top to bottom - but with the all new grid system I included with the new website I can design my entries any way I want to.

#2 Lack Of Branding

I never really had a "brand" so I decided it would be a good idea to build that off the sweet domain name I have. The new design sports a cute little robot. Awesome.

#3 The Code Wasn't Evan Quality

The new design is W3C compliant and actually works in IE6. Support for that old browser wasn't actually planned, it just kinda worked.

#4 No Greeting

When you visited my old site there wasn't anything telling you about what the site was or who it was for. The new site has a greeting at the top of the home page to give the user some direction.

What's Next?

I have been working on some great content for some new articles so keep your eyes open!
